Aging is a natural part of the human experience, and we can’t avoid it. Sure, we can go to lengths to look younger, but there’s only so much we can do.

Sometimes, some of the solutions we turn to make matters worse. For instance, using some makeup products can cause premature aging, especially when leaving them on our faces for too long.

We can also be directly responsible for our wrinkles – through the foods we eat, our skincare routines, and our water consumption. Ordinarily, aging should be a beautiful process, but it starts a lot earlier than it should these days.

As you age, your body finds it more tasking to absorb some of the nutrients necessary for great skin. You can assist it by doing one or all the following things:

1. Moisturize twice daily

Like your body’s ability to absorb nutrients and give your skin that healthy and natural glow reduces, you can make up for it by using a moisturizer in the morning when you wake up and at night before bed. That way, your body will have less to worry about, and you’ll be able to focus on other things.

Moisturizing prevents dryness of the skin, thereby preventing or reducing wrinkles. Usually, when wrinkles appear, it’s because your skin’s elasticity has diminished, but you can rectify this by using this tip.

Heavily scented beauty products can also irritate your skin, so avoid moisturizers that fall into this category.

2. Avoid using too many products

While purchasing beauty products that appeal to you can be tempting, you should always work with a sequence. Avoid using just any product that promises positive and fast effects. Instead, have a single brand of moisturizer, cleanser, exfoliating scrubs, and other beauty products for your skin.

When you combine various options, the ingredients can clash and result in skin problems.

3. Avoid touching your face

If your hands aren’t clean, keep them away from your face. Your face is one of the most sensitive parts of your body, while your hands tend to carry the most dirt. So, when you touch your face regularly, you can transfer bacteria to your pores.

This can cause you to break out, and we all know how acne scars can cause permanent blemishes on the face.

4. Stay hydrated

Your skin and body care routine should prioritize water consumption. Many irreplaceable health benefits come with drinking enough water, and some of them include reducing the physical effects of aging.

The recommended water intake is eight cups daily, but a busy schedule may interfere with that. You can set personal reminders every two hours or so.

5. Eat more fruits

You can consume more fruits, too – they contain a significant amount of water to keep you hydrated. They also contain antioxidants that destroy free radicals, one of the major causes of wrinkling and premature aging.


We can’t postpone the aging process, but we can take practical actions to slow it down.
